COLOR & PATTERN IN DAZZLE CAMO
I’d like to introduce color and pattern as its displayed in Dazzle Camouflage. This was a technique developed during WWI to obscure large ships and planes, disrupting the likelihood of them from being spotted and tracked visually in the open air and water. The vessels were painted in bold clashing color and multi directional patterns.
Lesson Plan :
describe and present examples of static vs kinetic patterns, opening discussions on the effect of each
collect examples of pattern and color from media
create and scan collage
use hue/saturation/lightness to adjust the image
print the final camo pattern
use a silhouette to cut the print to the shape of the object
two pieces are created one positive space one negative space
discuss what happens when we close a shape around these patterns
remember this exercise is a departure point not a destination
Furious Fruit Flashcards : Fruits for the Rhythm
These flashcards are to be used in support of learning names of fruits, reading syllables and the principles of musical time signature. They are to be used in group exercises with collections of hand percussion such as egg shakers, tambourines, claves, and hand drums.
Teachers can “conduct” the fruit rhythm orchestra to illustrate pronunciation and polyrhythm. Students can perform in groups or solo. As a cognitive as well as somatic experience this playful exercise can scaffold a variety of vocabulary for many different learning styles, abilities, and interests including the hearing impaired, and those with IDD.
